ChatNow is independent: it has no link with UKChat or with Wired Reality LLC, the company behind it.
The form asks for four things: a username, your gender, your age and your town. There is no email to confirm, and you start in the "English speakers" room.

UKChat is a free chat site at ukchat.com, which also calls itself UK Chat: rooms such as Lobby, Cafe and Scotland, with a forum alongside. If you want a UKChat alternative, ChatNow is a free chat with no sign-up for adults aged 18 and over. You come in anonymously, as a guest, with a username and no email address.
Below you will find UKChat described from its own pages, the points where ChatNow differs, a dated table of the two, and the steps to join ChatNow.
UKChat presents itself as free online chat for the UK, with "no registration necessary", and its about page says it has offered chat rooms since 1997. Its list of rooms adds that "All rooms are free" and that they "support webcam and microphone".
To come in without an account, its guest form asks for a username, a gender (Male, Female or Other/Couple), a date of birth and a room, with a box to tick to confirm you are at least 18. No email address is needed, and its help page says "Logging in is not required". A forum account, with an email address to confirm, is optional.
The official rooms include Lobby, Cafe, Trivia and LGBT, and rooms for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. Its about page also says "every user has the ability to create their own chat room". The official rooms, it says, are moderated by its staff and volunteers, and each one has a board on the forum, next to boards for the regions of the UK.
Its Terms of Use, last modified on 16 April 2025, name the operator as Wired Reality LLC, based in Tampa, Florida — the same company behind Free Chat Now.
In the Lobby, the room topic sends anyone who wants "a more sexual chat" to ukchat.co.uk, its adult sister site, which this page does not cover.
Some unrelated sites and apps use similar names; this page is only about ukchat.com, whose pages are listed under Sources.
The two have a lot in common. Each is free, each lets you chat as a guest without an email address, each has public rooms and private messages, and each lets you shut someone out.
Where ChatNow is different:
What ChatNow lacks: there are no rooms for Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you cannot open a room of your own, and there is no forum, only chat.

The UKChat column comes from its about page, its list of rooms, its help page, its chat rooms FAQ, its Terms of Use and the page of its Lobby room; see Sources.
There is nothing to install, and the username you picked stays the same until you leave.
Coming from this page, you start in "English speakers", which ChatNow describes as the English-speaking room for everyone, wherever they live. Only English is accepted there: a message written in another language is normally removed just after it is sent, and the notice "This room is English only." appears.
"Welcome" is the other general room, next to rooms in German, Spanish and Italian. None of the general rooms is for sexual conversation.
Themed rooms sit under "Adult rooms", among them "Gay", "Lesbian", "Trans", "Crossdressers", "Roleplay" and "Couples". Every country shares them, so many conversations there are in French, and there is no telling how many of the people in them are in the UK or Ireland. "Gay" is open only to profiles set to Man, and "Lesbian" only to profiles set to Woman. There is more about them on our page of rooms for adults.
Guests can start at once; a free account unlocks the rest:
| Feature | Guest | Free account |
|---|---|---|
| Writing in rooms | From a UK or Irish connection | From any country |
| Private messages | Text and voice notes | Text, voice notes, photos and videos |
| Webcam | Watch other people | Broadcast yours too, with sound |
| Username | Kept for this visit | Yours from one visit to the next |
| "Contact filters" | No | Choose who may write to you |
To open the free account you give an email address, a password, your date of birth and your gender, or you sign in with Google.
Premium, a paid extra, is entirely optional and never renews automatically; it has no effect on moderation, safety or the handling of reports.
Others see your username, gender, age and town, and a rough distance between towns; ChatNow never uses GPS. The email address of an account holder is never shown.
Both services keep connection records: the chat form of UKChat says your IP address "will be logged", and ChatNow keeps its connection logs (IP address, times, device identifier) for 12 months.
Other retention periods are in the retention table.
Only adults aged 18 and over may use ChatNow, and you give your age when you join. The Community Rules apply in every room and every private chat: consent comes first, nobody sells anything or asks for money, and nothing may ever involve a minor. A first private message must not be sexual unless the other person asked for it.
ChatNow itself never creates profiles or operates bots. Fake accounts made by others do appear, and they are removed once someone reports them.
For the full list, see what is never allowed; the reporting steps explain each way to report.
No email and no forum account. You start in "English speakers", and "Rooms" lists the others.
