Community Rules

1. Status and purpose

ChatNow is a free, anonymous chat service for adults in the United Kingdom: public rooms, private messages, photos, voice notes and live webcam. These rules bind every user, guest or member, everywhere on the service, including private messages. Conduct criminal anywhere in the UK is prohibited.

2. Adults only

You must be 18 or over. Before you reach any room, message, image or webcam you complete an independent age check, guests and members alike, every session (see how age assurance works). Lying about your age, using someone else's documents or helping anyone under 18 get in ends your access immediately.

3. What is allowed

Sexual conversation, and the exchange of sexual images or webcam between consenting adults, is allowed in the rooms labelled adult rooms, which you enter only by a deliberate step, and in private conversations where the other person has clearly agreed. Elsewhere, keep it non-sexual.

The line is drawn at consent, age and legality. Consent can be withdrawn at any time: "no", silence or a block means no. Blocking or muting anyone, for any reason, is always allowed.

4. What is never allowed

You must not post, send, stream, request, offer or encourage any of the following.

5. Webcam, images, messages and profiles

• Webcam and voice. Only you, and adults who have expressly agreed, may be shown or heard on your stream. No person under 18 may be visible or audible, even in the background. ChatNow does not record streams, and you must not record, screenshot or re-stream anyone's webcam, voice note or voice conversation.
• Images. Every person shown must be an adult who consented to the image being taken and shared on ChatNow. Sexual images only in adult rooms or to a recipient who has clearly agreed.
• Private messages. A first message must not be sexual unless invited. Unsolicited sexual images or explicit voice notes are prohibited wherever the conversation began. Messaging someone after they asked you to stop, or blocked you, is harassment.
• Usernames and profiles. No abusive, threatening or discriminatory names or text, nothing sexualising minors, no advertising or commercial contact details. Bios are reviewed before they go live.
• Impersonation. Do not pose as another person, a public figure, a moderator, an administrator or ChatNow itself.

6. Platform integrity

• Ban evasion. Returning after a ban by any means is a breach and extends the ban.
• One person, one account, one session at a time.
• No automation. No bots, scripts, automated messaging, crawlers or scrapers; no harvesting of usernames, messages or images; no circumventing our security or rate limits.
• No spam or solicitation. No advertising, affiliate links, referral schemes, recruitment for other platforms, flooding or mass messaging.
• No false reports. Knowingly false or mass reports made to harass or silence another user are themselves a breach.

7. Sanctions

Moderators are in the rooms daily, helped by automated tools. Sanctions are applied consistently and in proportion to the seriousness of the breach, the harm caused or risked, intent and history. In increasing order:

1. removal of the content;
2. reduced visibility of your messages for a limited time;
3. temporary mute;
4. temporary ban by account, IP address and device;
5. permanent ban by account, IP address and device, with termination of the account.

Child sexual exploitation and abuse, terrorism, non-consensual intimate images and threats of violence lead directly to a permanent ban. Every decision is sent to you with the reason, the rule or law relied on, whether automation was involved and how to appeal. No permanent ban is applied on a purely automated basis without human review.

8. Reporting and appeals

Use the report button on any message or profile, or email safety@chatnow.fr; see Report & complaints. In immediate danger, call 999 first.

Any sanction, rejected report or age-check outcome can be appealed; a different human reviewer decides within 14 days.
