Typed as UK chat naughty, naughty chat UK or UK chat adult, the search usually comes down to one wish: a free chat with no sign-up, where adults can talk openly. On ChatNow, that means the "Adult rooms" part of the room list, open to you as a guest with a username, your gender, your age and your town, and no email address. ChatNow is a chat open to adults without an account, for people aged 18 and over, and you give your age when you join.

One thing to know first: ChatNow is a separate site from UKChat and has no room called Naughty. If that was the room you had in mind, this comparison of the two sites sets out what differs.

Below: the room that suits what you are after, who writes in these rooms, how to decide who may message you privately, and what is deleted once you log off.

Pick a username to begin

No single naughty room: choose one by what you are after

ChatNow does not keep one room for every adult topic. The "Adult rooms" are split by subject instead, so the first step is to pick the one that matches the conversation you want:

If you are afterTry this room
A story you write with another person"Roleplay"
Talking as a couple, or with couples"Couples"
Power, roles and limits agreed in advance"BDSM"
Men who want to talk with men"Gay", for profiles set to Man
Women who want to talk with women"Lesbian", for profiles set to Woman
Trans or crossdressing topics"Trans" and "Crossdressers"
Saying hello first, with nothing sexual"Welcome", a general room

Sexual talk between consenting adults belongs in the adult rooms, and in a private conversation once the other person has clearly agreed to it. In "Welcome" and the other general rooms, the rules say it plainly: "Elsewhere, keep it non-sexual."

English, French and others: who writes in these rooms

The adult rooms are the same whichever country you connect from, and the people in them write in several languages, often in French. How many of them live in the UK is not something this page can tell you, which is why it makes no promise of a British crowd.

Writing in English is fine in any adult room. If you would rather keep to English throughout, the form opens "English speakers" first, and a message in another language is usually removed there a moment after it is sent. That room is for general conversation, so the adult talk stays in the adult rooms.

Who can message you privately, and how to change it

Unless you decide otherwise, anyone in the chat can open a private conversation with you. What you can change depends on how you came in:

  • As a guest: "Block". Once you block someone, that person can no longer write to you in private, whatever else is set, and the block works in both directions.
  • With a free account: four levels. The setting "Who can send you a private message?" offers "Everyone", "Members of my room", "Friends only" and "Nobody".
  • Then the "Contact filters". They narrow down "Everyone" and "Members of my room" by "Allowed genders", "Allow guests", "Age range" and "Maximum distance", the distance being measured between towns.
  • Two exceptions. The filters do not apply to your friends. And someone who already has a private conversation with you can go on writing, even if you move to "Nobody" later: for that person, use "Block".

A person stopped by your filters is not told which setting did it: not your age range, not the genders you allow, not your distance.

Guest today, free account later: what each one does

The guest route is enough to read, write and send private messages. An account adds what involves pictures in private or a webcam of your own:

FeatureGuestFree account
Writing and posting photos in a roomYes, when connecting from the UK or IrelandYes
Private messages, voice notes includedYesYes
Sending photos or videos in privateNoYes
Watching a webcam in a roomYesYes
Your own webcam in a roomNoYes
A private webcamNoYes, if the other person has an account too
Private message settings and "Contact filters"NoYes

An account asks for an email address, a password, a date of birth and a gender, or you can sign in with Google. Premium is an optional paid add-on that never renews automatically, and nothing on this page depends on it.

After you log off: what goes and what stays

  • Gone 24 hours after a guest leaves: that guest's messages, photos and voice notes.
  • Kept for 12 months: connection logs (IP address, timestamps, device identifier), as well as reports and the decisions made on them.
  • Not recorded by ChatNow: webcam streams. A viewer could still film the screen, so show only what you would accept seeing copied.
  • Out of ChatNow's hands: a screenshot taken by the person on the other side.

Each period, along with the rest of the list, is in the retention table of the Privacy Policy.

Report and Block: what the moderators do next

Human moderators are present daily, and an AI classifies each message once it has been sent. A moderator carries the "Mod" badge next to the username.

  • "Report" is everywhere. It sits on every message, image, voice note and profile, for guests as well as account holders. You can also write to safety@chatnow.fr.
  • A decision within 7 days for a standard report, taken under the rules: no room is exempt from what is never allowed.
  • A request for money is a red flag. Payment, a gift card, a code or more photos, or a threat to pass your pictures on: report the account, then block it.

Step by step, how to report is explained on its own page. The criminal law applies on top of the rules, and our page on consent, intimate images and the law gives the details.

Asked before a first visit

Which room should I open first?
There is no room for every topic at once. Pick the adult room that fits the conversation you want, or say hello in "Welcome", where the talk stays non-sexual.
Do I have to register or pay?
Neither. A guest needs a username, a gender, an age from 18 to 99 and a town. A free account is optional, and so is Premium, which never renews automatically.
Will the people I meet be in the UK?
Some may be, but nobody can promise it: the rooms are shared between countries and are often in French. Each profile shows a town and a rough distance, measured from one town to another.
Can I stop strangers from messaging me?
Yes. Anyone can use "Block". With a free account you also choose who can write to you privately, from "Everyone" to "Nobody", and you can add "Contact filters" on top.
Can I send photos as a guest?
In a room, yes, provided you connect from the UK or Ireland. In private, no: photos and videos in private messages need a free account.
