iSexyChat, sometimes written iSexy Chat, is a free text chat that runs on an IRC network: you pick a room, choose a nickname and start typing, with no registration. If you want an iSexyChat alternative where everything works with buttons rather than commands, ChatNow is a free guest chat with no sign-up. You join anonymously as a guest, with a username and no email address.

This page sets out what iSexyChat is, using its own pages, then how ChatNow differs, a dated table of the two, and how to get into ChatNow from the UK or Ireland.

What iSexyChat is, according to its own pages

iSexyChat presents itself as a free chat: its home page says there are "no subscription fees or paywalls", and that the site is paid for by advertising.

To join, you pick one of its rooms, say whether you want to talk to women, men, transgender people or someone else, then give your gender and a nickname. It asks for no email address, and registering is optional.

Behind the site is an IRC network, opened in a web chat window. Its rules explain the commands: /nick to change your nickname, /me to describe an action, /join to open a channel of your own. Channel operators enforce the rules, problems are reported to them in a private message, and /ignore or /silence stops someone from messaging you.

The same rules ask everyone to "Use English" in the rooms and to keep other languages for private messages. Sexual chat and role-play belong, in their words, "in private messages or your own created channels".

Its menu lists rooms such as General Chat, Gay Chat, Lesbian Chat, Roleplay Chat and Trans, and a section called "AI Chat".

Its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, a single short page, warn that messages, private chats included, can be seen and saved by other users. They also say that you give the site "the right to monitor, record, and repurpose all messages sent to any other user or channel (chatroom), public or private".

Several other websites use names close to iSexyChat. Everything on this page refers to the site whose pages are listed under Sources.

Commands, rooms and private talk: how ChatNow differs

Some things are the same. Both are free, both let you in without an email address, both have public rooms and private messages, and both let you shut out someone who bothers you.

The differences:

  • No commands. ChatNow is its own chat, not an IRC network: you switch rooms in "Rooms", and every message and profile has a "Report" button. Nothing needs typing to change room or to stop someone.
  • A fixed username. You keep one username from arrival to departure; to hold on to it for next time, you open a free account.
  • Where sexual conversation goes. On ChatNow it is allowed in the rooms under "Adult rooms", and in private when the other person has clearly agreed; the general rooms stay non-sexual.
  • Your profile and photos. You also give your age and town, and others see an approximate distance between towns. Photos are sent from your device, not as a link to another site; in private, that takes a free account.
  • Webcam. Guests can watch the webcams in a room; with a free account you can turn on your own, with sound.

There is also what ChatNow does not have. You cannot create a room of your own, as iSexyChat lets you do with /join, you cannot connect with another IRC program, and there is no AI companion of any kind.

Getting into ChatNow without signing up

  1. Fill in the form at the top: a username of 3 to 20 characters, your gender (Man, Woman, Trans, CD or Couple), your age, which must be 18 or over, and your town, chosen from the list that appears as you type. Towns in the UK and Ireland are included.
  2. Press "Chat free, no sign-up": chatnow.fr opens with what you entered; confirm it and you are in "English speakers".
  3. Switch rooms whenever you like from "Rooms".

No download and no /nick: the username you chose is the one others see until you leave.

Where you arrive, and the other rooms

From this page you land in "English speakers". ChatNow's description calls it the English-speaking room, open to everyone wherever they are from. English is required: a message in another language is normally removed a moment after it is sent, with the notice "This room is English only."

Alongside it you will find "Welcome", a general room, and rooms in German, Spanish and Italian. None of these general rooms is meant for sexual conversation.

The themed rooms are grouped under "Adult rooms": "Gay", "Lesbian", "Trans", "Crossdressers", "Roleplay" and "Couples", among others. They are shared by every country, so the conversation in them is often in French, and we cannot say how many people there come from the UK or Ireland. Only profiles set to Man can enter "Gay", and only profiles set to Woman can enter "Lesbian". Our page on rooms for adults goes through them in more detail.

Guest or free account: what each one gets

A guest can do most things straight away. A free account adds the rest:

FeatureGuestFree account
RoomsWrite from a UK or Irish connectionWrite from anywhere
Private messagesText and voice notesText, voice notes, photos and videos
Your webcamYou watch othersYou can also broadcast, with sound
UsernameFor this visitKept between visits
"Contact filters"Not availableLimit who can write to you

The free account needs an email address, a password, your date of birth and your gender; signing in with Google also works.

Premium is an optional paid extra on top. It does not renew by itself, and it changes nothing about moderation, safety or how a report is dealt with.

Your profile, your messages and what ChatNow keeps

Other people see your username, gender, age and town, with a rough distance worked out from the towns on both profiles; GPS is never used. If you have an account, your email address is not shown to anyone.

Anything you write can be copied or captured by the person reading it, on iSexyChat as on ChatNow. On ChatNow's side:

  • An AI classifier reads the text of public and private messages after they are sent, and moderators review reported content, private messages included.
  • What a guest posts, voice notes included, is deleted 24 hours after the guest leaves.
  • Connection logs (IP address, times, device identifier) stay for 12 months.
  • Webcams are never recorded by ChatNow, although anyone watching can still capture their own screen.

The other periods are set out in the retention table of the Privacy Policy.

Staying safe: rules, "Report" and "Block"

ChatNow is only for adults aged 18 and over; you give your age when you join. The Community Rules cover every room and every private conversation: consent first, no selling and no requests for money, and never anything that involves a minor. In private, a first message must not be sexual unless the other person invited it.

  • "Block" cuts someone off straight away, with no command to type.
  • "Report" sits on every message and profile, and without an account you can write to safety@chatnow.fr; the decision on a standard report comes within 7 days.
  • Moderators wear a "Mod" badge and are in the rooms every day.
  • Money and photos: do not pay anyone, and stop answering a person who presses you for pictures or wants to move you to another app.

ChatNow does not make up profiles or run bots of its own. Fake accounts created by other people do turn up, and they are removed once reported.

Everything that is banned outright is in the list of what is never allowed; the reporting steps are on the reporting page.

iSexyChat alternative: questions people ask

Are there any real chat rooms left?
Yes. Group text chat is still around: iSexyChat runs its rooms on an IRC network, and ChatNow has public rooms and private messages in the browser, free and with no sign-up.
Is ChatNow connected to iSexyChat?
No. ChatNow is run by Skyline Online LLC and has nothing to do with iSexyChat; it is simply another free chat you can use instead.
Is ChatNow free, and do I have to sign up?
It is free, and there is no sign-up: as a guest you give a username, gender, age and town, with no email or password. A free account is optional, and so is Premium, which never renews by itself.
Do I need to know chat commands?
No. ChatNow has no /nick, /me or /join: you change room in "Rooms" and use the "Report" and "Block" buttons. Your username stays the same until you leave.
Can I open a room of my own?
No. The rooms on ChatNow are fixed, so you cannot create a channel as you can on iSexyChat. For a one-to-one conversation, use private messages.
Is there an 18+ chat app?
ChatNow is for adults aged 18 and over, but it is not an app: it works in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with nothing to install.
Can other people keep what I write?
Yes, on any chat: the person you write to can copy or capture it. On ChatNow, an AI classifier checks the text after sending, moderators look at reported conversations, and what a guest posts is deleted 24 hours after the guest leaves.
Will people speak English?
In "English speakers", the room this page leads to, English is required. The themed rooms are shared with other countries, and their conversations are often in French.
